2009 Conference

The Changing Faces of Distance Education and Open Learning - NADEOSA Conference 17th and 18th August 2009

The AGM and conference took place at the Unisa Sunnyside Campus in Pretoria under the auspices of the Department of Teacher Education.

The conference theme was explored through the following sub-themes:

  • The integration of ICTs and social networking technologies
  • Learner support and assessment
  • Research
  • Ethics
  • We linked to our keynote speaker Gabi Witthaus, at the University of Leicester, through Skype for the question and answer session, after listening to her presentation through a video conference. Gabi's presentation was aptly named Joining the High Tech Bandwagon on Low Bandwidth. To view Gabi's presentation click here Gabi has also embedded the link in her personal blog and included a link to the streaming version of the video on Leicester's server.

This year we will not be placing the papers on the website. Rather, we have requested participants to submit their final papers for review for the first issue of the South African Journal of Distance Education and Open Learning. See home page for details.
